Rarity Equipment: Supporting Jamaica’s Path to Recovery

Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm, struck Jamaica with tremendous force on October 28, 2025, causing devastating damage to homes, infrastructure, and essential services. It was one of the strongest hurricanes the country has ever experienced, with consequences affecting millions of people and requiring years of recovery efforts.

According to United Nations reports, emergency resources have been mobilized to support recovery initiatives and address the basic needs of the most affected population.

Additionally, the UN highlighted that an immediate package of US$4 million has been allocated to expand food assistance, potable water, healthcare services, and shelter support, in coordination with agencies such as UNICEF, IOM, PAHO/WHO, and the World Food Programme (WFP).

The international community has responded with a support package of up to US$6.7 billion dedicated to Jamaica’s recovery and reconstruction over the next three years, with the participation of institutions including the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank Group, the International Monetary Fund, and regional development banks.

These efforts aim not only to address urgent needs but also to strengthen the country’s resilience and help rebuild critical infrastructure and livelihoods, in collaboration with the Government of Jamaica, the United Nations, and other key partners.

At Rarity Equipment, we understand that recovery after natural disasters requires collective effort, specialized resources, and a strong commitment to collaboration.
